Global Agency of Geosciences Experts

02-03d Sedimentary Environments Intro

Objectives

To provide an understanding of the many and varied types of sedimentary environments that exist and how they influence deposition. How these environments and facies are reflected in the subsurface and the way they can be interpreted using a sequence stratigraphic approach.

Who should attend

Anyone who wishes to understand how such elements as weather, climate and biological activity controls the sedimentation process and how this process is reflected in the subsurface. Combining this knowledge allows the reconstruction of palaeoenvironmental models to help better understand the geological past.

Prerequisites

None, but a basic understanding of geomorphological and geological processes would be beneficial but not essential.

Duration

5 days.
