Global Agency of Geosciences Experts

02-04e Biostratigraphy Introduction

Objectives

To gain a basic understanding of the different microfossil groups, where they occur in the geological record and how they can be used both chronostratigraphically and palaeoenvironmentally. How biostratigraphic data is presented and can be used to facilitate an integrated stratigraphic approach to with other subsurface data types in petroleum exploration, appraisal and development.

Who should attend

Geoscientists and engineers who wish to understand how biostratigraphy is used to tie together chrono, litho and biostratigraphy and how it can be utilized in order to solve potentially complex reservoir connectivity problems.

Prerequisites

Some background knowledge of geology and a basic understanding of the subsurface environment would be beneficial, but not essential.
